The trip from the airport into town can be done by public bus, caught out- side the terminal, or by taxi. Buses take an hour; taxis should take about 20 minutes, depending on the traffic.
By Bus
There are numerous first-class bus companies that travel between Acapulco and Mexico City or Oaxaca, where you can transfer to anywhere else in the country. Second-class buses travel up and down the coast and inland to mountain villages. To get into town by taxi, leave the terminal and go to the opposite side of the street. Taking a taxi from here is much cheaper than taking one from the terminal. In-town buses are of two types. La Costera buses are air conditioned and cost a bit more than the regular local buses. Destinations are marked on the windows.
By Car
Bigger cars cost more; Volkswagens cost less. Always barter and confirm the price.
